How should we address environmental issues with young children in developmentally appropriate ways? Can Design Thinking be the answer? Two teachers, involved in the ISABC action research program, collaborated with grade 2 students and teachers to conducted a deliberate unit on water conservation that used the design thinking framework to encourage students to see themselves as changemakers in their community.

Participants will gain the following from attending the session:
- A dialogue on how to foster a sense of agency in children about environmental issues in developmentally appropriate ways
- Key insights from the action research process
- Tips for using the Design Thinking Framework with young students
