Limited Capacity filling up

What if there were a way to help reduce student stress, relieve feelings of anxiousness, mitigate tiredness, while boosting brain power at the same time? This workshop will provide a case study of an action research pilot program that focused on engaging students in exercise prior to writing exams. The program called “Brain Fit” was founded in emerging literature that highlights exercise as a key contributor to brain effectiveness. In this session, you will learn about the significant positive health, wellness, and academic impacts of exercise embedded in exam periods (and beyond) drawn from actual student experience and data. You will also gain implementation ideas and strategies to promote this type of program in your own school. An academic program today that does not place intentional emphasis on exercise is cheating students out of functioning and learning at their best. There is work to be done to optimize the health, wellness, and academic success of our learners and it’s time we all get moving!

Participants will gain the following from attending the session:
- Overview of current research connecting exercise to brain/learning effectiveness.
- Astounding student data and results from "Brain Fit" program.
- Strategies to implement an action research program and data collection process.
